How it's made

Porphyridium cruentum is a red micro-algae, a single-cell organism. In nature, the gel it produces keeps it protected and hydrated.
Cultivated with care
We grow the algae under carefully controlled conditions that keep it pure and rich in the natural compounds it produces.
A natural gel
From it we obtain a naturally gel-forming material, adapted by our scientists to the unique conditions of intimate skin.
The base of every product
A-SPS™ is the foundation of every Secrét de Joie formula. In Deep Hydration, it makes up half of the product.
What makes it different
Designed to stay where it's applied.
Most of what makes A-SPS™ different is how it behaves on delicate skin. Hormone-free and fragrance-free, with natural preservatives. The gels contain no added oils.

A-SPS™ from the red micro-algae Porphyridium cruentum holds water and, with hyaluronic acid, forms a light film that keeps delicate skin moist.

Acidity like the vagina's own
Within the natural vaginal range of 3.8–4.5. This acidity is part of the body's natural defences against fungi and bacteria.
Gentle, low osmolality
A highly concentrated gel can draw water out of delicate tissue and irritate it. A-SPS™ gels stay below 500 mOsm/kg.

Support for natural defences
In laboratory tests, A-SPS™ reduced Candida albicans, the yeast behind thrush, by 3.5 log within 24 hours, with similar results for E. coli and Gardnerella vaginalis. Its pH of 4.2 supports the vagina's own defences.
Comfort, gently
Moisture reduces the pain that dryness causes, every day and during sex. Low osmolality keeps the gel gentle on sensitive tissue.

A-SPS™ was developed and is owned by Alga-Med Therapeutics. It is protected by granted patents in the United States and Europe, including a European patent registered in the UK, France and Germany.
